BIRTHDAY BASH Review: Little Write Brain

It's no secret that we are a household of book lovers. Honestly, we are a household of children's book lovers. We do a lot of reading, however our picks are normally ones with pretty pictures and not too many words on a page.

I am always keeping a lookout for new titles to introduce into our collection. I like to keep things fresh and interesting for Raileigh. I was recently introduced to a fantastic company that helps children to create custom storybooks. This company is Little Write Brain. They aim to create a passion for reading, writing, and storytelling in children through the use of their online book creation tools. Little Write Brain offers the most customizable books that I have ever came across. You can edit the characters, the plot lines, and even the illustrations! The site is designed so that children can easily create a story on their own or with the help of a parent. It is such a rewarding experience for a child to be able to create and star in their own story.

Little Write Brain gave us the opportunity to try out their services. Raileigh is not quite ready to navigate a website by herself, so we spent some time on Little Write Brain together. I started by creating a free account for us. Doing this allows us to create and save unlimited storybook characters, save incomplete storybooks to work on at a later time, upload a photo of Raileigh to the "About the Author" page, and order personalized printed books to be delivered to our home.

Then, we started creating. We began with the Character Builder. You can choose from boy, girl, man, woman, older man, or older woman. Raileigh wanted to make her Daddy, so we started with a man. We were able to customize his hair color, eye color, and clothing colors. Raileigh has a lot of fun choosing every detail. We went on to create a mommy, Raileigh, and several of her friends.

Next, we went over to the Story Builder. Currently, there are 8 basic plots to choose from. We chose "A Camping Trip With My Friends". We were asked to choose three of the characters we had built to be a part of the story. Raileigh chose herself, her cousin Marlee, and her friend Kadyn.

We went through the story builder page by page. We were able to add extra things to the illustrations- flowers, greenery, rocks, and sometimes even food. We were also able to move the text around and choose the placement on the page. There were even points in the story where we could choose the next step in the plot. It reminded me of those "Choose Your Own Ending" books. Raileigh's choices surprised me at times, but as the author, she had creative control!

It took us a while to get through the entire design process, but it went by quickly. Raileigh actually stayed interested the entire time. Afterward we saved our creation so that we could view it online anytime we choose. Little Write Brain was also incredibly generous, and sent us a hardcover book featuring the story that we made together.

I could not wait to see the story Raileigh made in print. The book arrived, and we immediately wanted to read it (even though we knew the plot). I noticed that book was bound quite well, and that the overall product seemed very high quality. We opened the storybook and saw each of the characters that Raileigh had created. It was pretty amazing to see her creation in an actual book form. It made her feel proud as well.

Since creating our first story at Little Write Brain, we have been back and created several more. Since we are able to save our book if we don't complete it, it is not necessary to make it all in one sitting. We have made a few books in phases. It is fun to visit the save and read the stories we have created and saved together.

I have truly enjoyed our experience with Little Write Brain. It is a very fun and educational experience to share with your children. Make sure to check out Little Write Brain today- I know you are going to love it!

  1. Bella’s Ball is also quickly becoming a favourite of parents and children alike. It is sure to inspire and entertain.
Bella's Ball is a children's story, written by Annaliese Chatterton, about a butterfly named Bella who wants to enter the Flutterfly Ball but finds herself feeling afraid. Though her friends encourage her to enter, Bella comes across several other bugs who do not think she is flutter material, causing her to question herself and whether she is really good enough for the ball. After hearing a story from the Ladybug Teller, Bella makes her final decision.
